FROM OUR PREVIOUS WORKSHOP

WHO IS IT FOR

  • This hands-on studio lighting workshop is designed for photographers who want to gain confidence working with artificial light in a real studio environment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Lighting essentials: Over three hours, you’ll learn how to shape and control light using simple, effective setups that you can recreate in your own shoots. Rather than just watching demonstrations, you’ll have the opportunity to actively shoot and experiment with the lighting yourself.

  • Model: We’ll work with a professional model in the studio, giving you the chance to practise directing, adjusting light, and capturing images in a guided setting.

  • 3 set ups: The session will cover 2–3 lighting setups, including how to build them, adjust them, and understand why they work.

  • Hands on: Students will rotate through each setup so everyone gets time shooting and experimenting with the lighting.

  • Meet other creatives: This is a small group workshop, allowing plenty of time for questions, feedback, and network with other like minded aspiring creatives.

WHAT TO BRING

To get the most out of the workshop, please bring the following:

Camera
A DSLR or mirrorless camera with the ability to shoot in manual mode.

Lens
A portrait-friendly lens is recommended (for example 35mm, 50mm, or 85mm).
Zoom lenses are also perfectly fine.

Memory card & fully charged batteries
There won’t be time during the workshop to charge gear, so please arrive prepared.

Notebook or phone for notes
You may want to jot down lighting setups, camera settings, or tips discussed during the session.
